Kybella® injections work by destroying fat cells under the chin and producing a more aesthetically pleasing chin profile. Synthetic deoxycholic acid is the active ingredient in the injection. Deoxycholic acid is found naturally in our bodies. It helps the body breakdown and absorb dietary fat.

When Kybella® is injected into the chin, it destroys the fat cells. This reduces the volume and fullness under the chin. Once these fat cells are destroyed, they can’t accumulate and store fat anymore. This leaves you with a sleeker and younger-looking chin and face.

A Kybella® treatment is done in the doctor’s office. It is quick, usually lasting 15 to 60 minutes. However, multiple treatment sessions are usually needed. The number of treatments will depend on the results you want and the amount of fat under your chin. Kybella® treatments are usually spaced out every month.

During the treatment, patients may experience a mild sensation of burning and stinging. To minimize any discomfort, a cold gel pack or ice may be placed against the skin after the injections.
